5Very Happy With This So Far
By J in L.A.
I think I wasted 3 days trying to figure out which projector to buy. So many choices in so many price ranges. I am happy I chose this one. It is a great buy for the price and the features.Picture quality is way better than a lot of projectors I've used. The throw is not super short, but shorter than some others. I think I easily get a nice 8 foot picture from about 15 feet away.It has all the features I wanted, especially lots of options for connecting. S-cable, HDMI, VGA, and some others. Keep in mind when using HDMI, from your computer, it also seems to feed the sound to the no so good speaker on projector--but there is a sound out on the projector, so you could feed the sound into powered speakers if you wanted. I think you can also maybe reconfigure the sound settings on your computer. Right now I just use a VGA cable, so no worries.Set up is easy to do and choose the various options, even using the remote. Set ups for front ceiling, back ceiling, front of screen, back of screen, etc. Options for 16/9 4/3 auto aspect ration; different color set ups, etc. There is one thing I don't like and I think it is minor: This unit throws off a lot of heat. So much so, that once I had it set up right next to me and I had to turn on the A/C to keep comfortable.I had been borrowing an Optoma from the office on occasions, and they were fine, but the prices seemed high for the features and the picture quality wasn't that great. My buddy bought an LED Casio, which he was raving about--but it was almost $900. I didn't want to spend that much. He claimed I would save the money because the life of the bulb is 4 times longer. Well, I use this about 8 hours a week at the most. 400 hours per year. 12 years at least. And the light on this one is much less expensive the others.Picture quality is better than the Optoma I was using. Keep in mind, however, that I am not that fussy about picture quality. I don't even pay the extra money for the HD option from my cable t.v. provider.

5Awesome 3D projector for home theater!
By Dan B
I bought this after looking at the pjd5233. Although there were many positive reviews for the 5133, I decided to pick the 5233 because the aspect ratio was closer to what I wanted to project. I don't have the 5133 to compare it to, but would definitely recommend this over the 5133 since this has better stats. I believe it's only $110 more and worth it since there's a higher resolution etc.Now onto the 3D. This is 3D capable, but not ready out of the box. You'll need a 3D converter. I opted for the Optoma 3dxl. It's about $250 shipped and comes with glasses for one person. Also you'll need a compatible hdmi cable. I bought a 25' bluerigger hdmi for around $13. And of course you need a 3D player of some sort. I have a ps3 and an hd comcast box. The 3D works perfectly. I've had no problems what so ever with the combination of these products and I highly recommend this setup. I also bought 2 pairs of hi-shock dlp pro link glasses from 3d Corp here on Amazon. They were about $65 for both. They are slightly less vibrant than the ones that came with the 3dxl but way more comfortable and a 3rd of the price of the others. Also very happy with those.I installed the projector with a basic swivel mount also purchased on Amazon. I bought a 15' standard power cable from sfcable, on Amazon, since the stock cable is only like 6'. And covered the hdmi and power inside a cord mate I cable management kit. It's only wide enough for 2 cables, and but that's all I need. I'm currently projecting onto my textured drywall until I receive a roll of projector fabric. I'm going to build my own screen with that. It's sold by Carl's place llc. Also from Amazon. So there you have it, cheap and easy! I now have a 80' 3D tv for under $800. Don't hesitate to ask any questions if you're contemplating buying a projector etc. I was unsure about a lot during this process but now have at least most of my questions answered :)

5Pleased with purchase
By J. Cochran
We have really enjoyed this purchase. We placed it about 13 feet away from the screen, and from that distance it projects an image about 72'' wide. I am quite pleased with how good HD movies look on this projector. The images are crisp. There are only two downsides to the projector that I see. It does put out a lot of heat. However, I learned that this is fairly normal for DLP projectors because they have more moving parts than an LCD projector. The other downside is that there is not an adjustment to angle the projector downward. The projector has some nice settings too for display such as color mode. This projector has been functional too even on a sunny day with the curtains open.
