5Cute Little Projector for casual use
By Shankar Gorkhe
Let me start like this.I own Vivitek H1080FD 1080p and burned around 600 hours(i use it carefully) however always worried about its lamp life and also sometimes bulbs go down after their 3 months or 500 hours warranty, too sad.. always demanded blu-ray to play on it. But not always possible to get one.I was waiting for LED technology with at least 720p resolution and better lumens, had ordered Optoma ML500, but it did not satisfy my appetite. almost a year latter this BABY popped in the market and i picked it :D.I am projecting it for my kid on a white wall close to 80" screen mostly during day time and this little one does fantastic job when i cover window with blackout corten. Well i can feel the difference between 1080p and 720p. However i do not need to worry about lamplife, in last 4 weeks i put on 160+ hours comprised of SD TV signals, YouTube vdo songs, WD HDTV Live some time laptop. All the time it has done great job.3D: Got 2 pairs of 3D Corp glasses and tried as per instructions in the manual, but no success :(. Please help someone.for its price and quality of build and projection two thumbs up :) Very good inbuilt audio. This baby looks so cute.Recommended for daily casual fun.Updates: 11 Nov 2012:I'm projecting now on Da-Lite Screen 70INX70INDa-Lite Screen 70INX70IN Model B Manual Screen Wall/ceiling -Matte White images/movies looks awesome than projecting on wall. A lot difference this screen made, reduced size to 80" diag, but smooth and vibrant images.Updates: I'm Able watch 3D videos on 100" screen :DPlease follow bellow steps:It was cumbersome task initially when i tried to experiment 3D with LG PA70G. Later I got it. Please find bellow steps and equipments/software used. Let me know if yo are successful.1. Projector: LG PA70G2. Glasses: 3DTV Corp DLP-http://amzn.com/dp/B008FJXIS4/?tag={komponelektr-20} 3D Glasses 2 Pairs for ALL 3D Ready DLP Projectors and ALL Samsung and Mitsubishi DLP TV's3. Software: Stereoscopic player at < 3 d t v . a t >4. PC Setting: 1024X768 at 120 Hz5. Videos: Downloded from < 3 d t v . a t > go to movie download tabConnect the Projector to PC. Set pc resolution as per step 4.Launch Stereoscopic Player, browse for downloaded 3d Videos. That's it!!! You are already to watch 3D on 100" screen. But last but imp stereoscopic player setting, gotoMenu>>View>>Viewing Method>>Software PageflipingIf you do not select this, you will not able to see 3D effect.

5Excellent picture quality even at 125"
By Ionic
The LG PA70G a big step up in picture quality comparing it to the old sharp xr-10x projector that we had for watching movies. We decided to renovate our home theater setup. Every piece of equipment was outdated, and the worst part, no HDMI on our AVR or projector. After spending countless hours reading various forums and reviews we decided on the Optoma ML500. Ordered it direct from Amazon and received it a few days later. What a disappointment. The picture focus was uneven, and the RBG colors seemed to pop out more than what they should. I read several comments that the picture quality would improve. Well after a week we didn't notice any improvement and decided to return it.After doing some more research I was torn between the Epson 3010 and the LG PA70G. Please keep in mind that the Epson will be far superior in picture quality than the LG, but I wanted to take the plunge into the LED projector scene since the idea of not having to worry about the bulbs burning out is a big plus. So I went ahead and ordered the PA70G, and wow what a sweet surprise. We have this paired with a Elite Screens 125" screen, and the picture quality is awesome. The color balance looks so much more natural than on the Optoma. Image brightness is excellent, we are using it on the medium energy saving mode with low ambient light in the room and the picture is not washed out or faded. Just as a reference, this LG projector seems just as bright as our old sharp projector rated at 2000 lumens with a newish lamp.I have also used this projector for playing games with a PS3, there is no lag at all, and the image is also excellent. The setup that we have is a Denon 1913 AVR & Definitive Technology speakers. This setup didn't break the bank and was worth every penny.

4best of the LED projectors tro date
By James M. Case
I have been using projectors for several years now. Picture Quality has come a long way. My use is a little different then most buying this projector. I use mainly for home theater and little use on computer. I have a light controlled dedicated theater room so this review is biased toward home theater use. Recently purchased this unit from Fry's for $499. I have been waiting for a LED based projector with enough lums for 110 inch screen, my price point and this one did a very nice job. Being it mainly built for business use inputs are few and far between but with a HDMI switcher you can get by. Never having to replace the lamp huge bonus!I had an Epson 6500UB which is one of the best home theater projectors available. I have no complaints on picture quality of this unit only reliability and Epson. Knowing they had an issue only fixing it enough to get through warranty period. Cost new $2500 warranty 2 years after that you might as well throw it out for it will cost you more to keep it then buy a new one. The new Epson's have been redesigned and hopefully more reliable but I just can't take another $2500 chance with bulbs running $200 plus and lucky to get over 1000 hours. Be a long time before I can trust an Epson product again. Love the picture just can't afford the consequences.Back to this unit. Colors are fantastic. This is basically a 720P instead of 1080P so detail not as good as the Epson but very very good. Instant on and off no warm up or cool down needed. Much quieter then the Epson. I was worried about the 720P being able to see pixels or (Screen Door Effect)not an issue on a 110 inch picture seating about 11 feet from screen. I was also very worried about RBE rainbow effect that all single chip DLP's suffer from and I am extremely sensitive to them. Glad to report I do see them on occasion but nowhere near as bad as earlier models and can live with them. 700 lums picture not as bright as the 1700 lum Epson but then it was almost to bright on some scenes but 700 lums about right for home theater. For kicks I took unit upstairs and used wall in middle of the day with blinds closed very acceptable picture. You could use in a dimly lit room and be very happy with the PQ. Now being use to Home theater projectors inputs very limited and adjustments to picture very limited but has enough that work very well to get a good quality picture. Color intensity does make things look a little cartoon-ish so you will probably want to tone them down some. Lot like the new LED back lit TV's are out of the box. Black level which I usually am very picky about black being black, is very good but no where near the Epson. However I found to be acceptable for the cost and reliability. Black content comes through as a very very dark gray and comparable to a good plasma set. LG runs contrast very high on this unit but does have a cinema setting which tones everything down to a more movie like mode. You will still want to do some adjusting but much better starting point. Also has a black level control comes set at low and you probably want to keep it there. Blacks I find to be better then most 720P/1080P projectors comparing to a Panny AE 200u it is a tad better. This projector has no lens shift so it must be placed correctly which is a real PITA but ceiling mounting it makes it a little easier. Unit is 1/4 th size of the old Epson and looks a little funny up there with big video cable going to it. Suggest buying with your credit extends 2 year warranty to 4 years (most credit cards check your provider to be sure). I do have concerns about the Texas Instrument DLP chip which seem to fail about 3 to 4 years. I have heard TI will honor their 5 year warranty but you need to fight with manufacturer about installing it. In 4 years something newer better will be out and at only $500 for this machine is a great price. Now it's price is back to $629 to $799 depending where you buy so take that into consideration for value of this unit. Now as mention by others and if using for text, could be a deal breaker, there is a focus issue. Personally I believe that LG used to small a lens to help keep portability from being an issue. They may have blown it for business use a lot of text usually will be used. I have noticed it focuses very close to the end of the adjustment. The center and most of picture is excellent but on the extreme corners and outside are slightly out of focus. No big deal for watching movies since your eye is mainly on the center of screen and you would very rarely notice this unless you actually looked for it. Coming from the old CRT days this is razor sharp across entire screen. For text though this would leave part of a sentence out of focus and probably drive you bonkers after a while. Conclusion mostly all people except those very picky and need high end projectors to satisfy their thirst for PQ will be very happy with this unit. I compared it to a $2500 projector and while not as good holds its own and IMO acceptable to all but the pickiest. Price, quality of build, warranty, no lamp issues, full size remote comes with very nice carrying bag, picture quality very good, it can't be beat by any other LED based and a lot of bulb projectors I have seen at least to date. Next month who knows! I hope this helps with your decision. Try to see for yourself first or get it from a dealer where if you aren't happy you can send it back for full refund.update 3/11/13I guess these are somewhat like lamp PJ's the picture gets better after some hours. The focus issue is almost completely gone. Extreme bottom is a touch out of focus when using computer but rest of screen extremely sharp and in focus. I'd say about the bottom 1.5 to 2 inches on 55 inch high screen. After doing several different settings on Expert 1 mode this unit has awesome picture. Do note garbage in garbage out with video on this unit. If you put in anything but HD it's not going to look real good at 110 inches. The video processor does a descent job but you are going to run 480 I most of the time it will be ugly. That said very happy with unit use much more then old bulb projector for no fear of lamp failure.
